Mission: To advance the independence, productivity, and full citizenship of people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities.
Need: We are in need of someone to create a 5-8 minute video highlighting what we do here at UCP. This video will be used at our Friends Breakfast on April 26th.
We completed a video last year of a compilation of photos along with some video from our Walk, Roll 'n' Run event over the years. This was put together by an employee using extra paid time. He had an interest in making videos, and learning more, but finding the time during and away from work was a challenge.

Mission: The Living Museum "Otavalango," provides a Living Museum experience for the local community and for international visitors. It also promotes culture, tourism, art, and handycraft as a means to preserve and cultivate the ancestral traditions of the Kichwa Otavalos, from Otavalo, Ecuador. As the first indigenous corporation in Ecuador we are working to remodel an historical complex of buildings from the 1850's as a central Museum and place of coordination for international cultural exchange projects. Our principal areas of development have been cultivating groups that specialize in traditional music, traditional healing, and weaving. The group continues to develop the Museum to represent other regional and international traditional cultures that share comparable folkloric customs.

Mission: There are over 55 million people who suffer from about 7000 rare disease in the US and Europe alone. Collectively they form one of the largest social burdens on society, because it takes over 2.5 years for patients to obtain a proper diagnosis. Once diagnosed, only 2% of the diseases have a treatment, leaving the majority of patients to suffer and die. Isolation, lack of funding and limited information plague patients, treating physicians, researchers and companies. CheckOrphan’s mission is to provide timely news and information about rare diseases to empower patients and to better network and inform researchers, physicians, patient organizations and companies so they can collaboratively and more efficiently provide cures for rare diseases. CheckOrphan also initiates projects that help overcome existing hurdles in the rare disease arena.
Needs:
"With the following projects, we are turning to you for your talents, experience and skills to bring these projects to life and provide a better future for the millions who suffer from a rare disease. We will be happy to give you as much credit as you would like for your creative efforts!
Marketing Material (Graphic Design / Branding / Copywrite) CheckOrphan needs an individual or team, who would develop flyers/brochures that advertise our free features and different sponsorship models. We have basic flyers, but they were not done by advertising professionals. It would give you the opportunity to create a brand identity for CheckOrphan and help CheckOrphan become a sustainable non-profit.
CheckOrphan.org (Web Design / Graphic) The CheckOrphan website was done for free, however, the graphic and web design need to be enhanced to improve the userability of the website. CheckOrphan has mapped out a strategic plan that we would like to implement graphically to help drive users to selected content, especially the sponsorship platform. The goal is to work with you to improve our strategy and then to help you implement it to improve the user's experience,
CheckOrphan.org (Web Development / Web Design / Copyright) CheckOrphan will be offering 4 new features to help overcome hurdles that the rare disease community face. These 4 projects will also help ensure that CheckOrphan becomes a sustainable non-profit. The first project is the Global Rare Disease Journalism program, where students around the world will be able to report on rare disease research at their respective university. Most researchers in this area are isolated and underfunded so this project will be key for improving the amount of funding and support for rare disease research. Another key project is a Global Rare Disease Registry. This project is key to helping cures for rare diseases reach the market place faster. The third are Education Packages, which will be a reproducible template that will allow us to better educate users about specific rare diseases. The fourth is an improved Sponsorship Platform that will encourage users to sponsor and make it a more user-friendly process. All will need a new tab in the top navigation with subpages that educate users and perform tasks such as: registering, sign in, integrating iframes.
Video CheckOrphan would strongly benefit from two videos with the following aims: 1. A video that explains how patients, patient organizations, researchers and physicians and companies can benefit from CheckOrphan and positions CheckOrphan as a key resource for the rare disease community 2. A second video that spotlights CheckOrphan's resources and the benefits of its sponsorship offers and how to sponsor."

Mission: MetroEast uses media to invigorate civic engagement, inspire diverse voices and strengthen community life.
Need: We have a robust youth media program but we are looking for help with branding the service.
We need a logo, for example, to use on our videos and we wish to tailor our web site (a new one is under development) to appeal to youth.
As a result, we wish to increase the number of youth participating in both our television production services as well as our new radio service.

Mission: My Story is a mobile arts organization that brings photography workshops to underrepresented Portland youth. Our programs give young people an opportunity to explore their lives through the lens of a camera, and strengthen their communities through the arts. We collaborate with community organizations in building programs that empower low-income and recently immigrated youth.
Need: My Story is looking for a volunteer web design and development team to help bring our web presence into closer alignment with the work we do in the community.
Result: We hope to be able to more effectively engage the community in the the work that we do. We aspire to do a better job of showcasing our students images as well as draw more attention to the projects that we undertake. Much of our work focuses on under represented communities and we would love to use our site to more effectively share this work with the world as well as educate the broader community about the life stories of our students and the communities they live in.

Mission: WHS exists to provide a temporary shelter for discarded, abused, abandoned, and lost cats and dogs. They complete families by matching companion animals with people and lead the community by teaching respect and compassion for animals.
Need: We are seeking expertise in producing a short video(s) that creatively showcases our shelter and promotes pet adoption. We want to dispell the myth that animal shelters are sad, dreary places and that many shelter pets are somehow "damaged." Instead, we want people to see our shelter for what it really is: a vibrant, modern organization that has many healthy, wonderful pets waiting for homes. The volunteer team would be responsible for shooting and editing the video and producing the final piece, which would be showcased on our website, Facebook, in our shelter lobby, and shown to specific target groups (e.g. volunteer & new employee orientations). We would hope to work together with the volunteer team to come up with the overall theme and messaging. We would of course provide access to the animals, people and areas of the shelter for filming and provide any necessary background information or details about our shelter that the team required.

Mission: Kids on the Block Awareness Program, a service of Impact NW, is a proactive, educational resource that uses the power of puppetry to inspire children to appreciate differences in the world around us, deepen appreciation of all people and say no to all forms of prejudice and develop skills to grow up healthy and safe. You can find more info on our program by clicking the tabs on our blog: http://kidsontheblockimpactnw.blogspot.com/ Or by visiting our Impact NW site: http://impactnw.org/main-navigation/programs/youthfamily/kids-on-the-block-awareness-program/
Need: They would like to have a 5-7 minute video developed that highlights the importance of Kids on the Block Awareness Program for local schools. They would use this to help make schools aware of our services to take advantage of them, in addition to it being a recruitment aid for potential puppeteers and educational overview for potential donors. They have two existing videos on DVD that might be able to be cut and spliced as needed (although they do not have the raw footage).
They can also provide photos and interviews as needed with puppeteers, counselors, etc. to help flesh things out and update information.
Nearly all of the "interview" footage in the last two videos is very outdated, but the rest of it can be used to showcase the program.
Email Us if you're interested in participating in this amazing "Kid Based" cause!
